Synopsis

Badal Sarkar's play 'Spartacus' is a play based on the novel of the same title by Howard Fast.

It is about the historic slave revolt, known as Third Servile War, against the Roman Republic led by Spartacus on 73 BCE.

Man's most basic universal values are freedom, love, hope, and finally life. Oppression and slavery tear these out until the oppressed have nothing to lose by uprising. Spartacus and his troop stand as the eternal symbol of how man must fight against the systems that oppress man's values.
